About Us

Lucy-profile-pic-webMessy Monkeys Ireland is excited to have Lucy Anderson running classes in the Dublin South area from November 2014.

Lucy is our Ireland Ambassador as the very first Messy Monkeys franchise owner in Ireland – very exciting!

Lucy has a BA hons in History and Anthropology. She also has experience teaching English to children and young adults abroad. These days, Lucy has two little monkeys of her own at home and she has loved introducing messy play into their world and watching as they explore what happens when they interact with different textures and materials. Lucy really believes in the benefits that messy play can have on a child’s ability to learn about their world and is very excited to be able to share this passion with the little monkeys in Ireland.

Messy Monkeys HQ is run by Karen Chapman and Helen Symonds

We set up Messy Monkeys in April 2010 in response to our own kids’ exploration into the wonderful world of messy play!

Karen has a BA Hons Degree in Three Dimensional Design, Glass and Ceramics and spent 7 years at the Hatton Gallery as a Curatorial Assistant and Exhibitions Officer. She has led Stained Glass workshops with Sixth Form Students and adults as well as Ceramics Sessions within secondary schools and themed workshops with Primary aged children. Karen also has experience of running toddler groups and has a little Messy Monkey son of her own.

Helen has a BA Joint Hons Degree in Childhood Studies and Professional Practice Studies. She has over 10 years experience of working with kids of all ages and abilities in the UK, America and Thailand. For 6 years she ran Summer Schools and Mentoring Schemes for local universities encouraging school children to aim higher within their education. Helen has 3 little monkeys at home so has lots of experience of cleaning up after their grubby mitts!
